Hi Everybody,

My name is Vicente and I live in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I own a 2006 Husaberg FE550 and i am going to race Rally dos Sertoes www.rallydossertoes.com.br , which is part of World Cross Country Championship. However I need a large capacity tank for my Husa, anyone where can I find a plastic one?

vbenedic,

This is one of the most asked questions here on the site. It's too bad that no one currently makes a larger tank for the Bergs as of yet and there doesn't seem to be one anytime in the near future either. Some of the factory riders have had custom made enlarged aluminum tanks for their bikes and you can purchase them for a pretty penny if you care to. Several members have contacted a few of the aftermarket fuel tank makers to see about having a plastic tank made but without an order for 300-500 or more none has been willing to make them. The alternative has been the side mount tank, behind the front number plate tank, and the under the seat tank but are quite pricey and the fit is a little unrefined. Do a search in the fuel forum and there are several posts about what some members have tried and got to work for them. Maybe someday we will get a bigger fuel tank option but for right now our options are a bit limited.

Regards,

Try making one out of aluminum. The chopper guys make them for every bike they build. Make one out of cardboard first. Try it, youmay find it not that hard. If you pay someone to weld it, it should still be affordable.

Hi vbenedic, how did you go in the Rally?

I am keen to get some info on using a Berg for rallye racing.

Please let me know any advice you can think of re setup and maintainence.

Thanks

I put the 3 litre tank under the seat and this boosts the fuel range to over 100 miles. Its nice to have the extra weight down low under the seat. You can move the CDI to a place right above the battery.

RE: Re: Baja Tank

Hi

I decided not racing with my Berg. I am going to race next month the Latin American Cross Country Rally from Amazon Forrest to Machu Pich, Peru and this time for sure with my Berg. I am adapting a Baja Designs KTM side panel fuel tank, I let you know if it works.

RE: Re: Baja Tank

The old school trick was to put hot water into the tank and pump 5 psi of air into it. Dunno how this will go with the new types of plastic tanks tho. If ya give it a go yo should gain 2.5 - 3 litres but make sure it's all fitted to the bike as the screw holes may not line up when it cools.

good luck mate
