Recently read an article by Gary Hazel of Thumper racing who used to be a product testing engineer at Kawasaki. He stated that sunk intake valves are most generally caused by very light detonation. Too light to hear in fact. Says pump fuel for major cities has crap to reduce pollution and is not the best even in 91 octane premium. Recommends mixing in half race gas. Hmmmm On a similar heat related issue, a KTM engineer stated that cooked stators can often be traced back to riders who slip the clutch a lot and excessively heat up the lower end. Their big racing 4 strokes weren't meant to be ridden as a 2 stroke and clutch slippage should be avoided. Oky Doky.... Just 2 more tid bits to add to the warnings from other members to avoid over revving, keep the stator clean and dry, change the oil frequently, and adjust the valves regularly to make your Husaberg have a long and Happy life.

you're talking to someone who roadraced dukes for 14 years! do i know how to slip a clutch? do i?? do i????

NO

i haven't toasted a stator in 3.5 years so maybe my facts help re-enforce his theory! fitted a new flywheel today as a precaution though!

i think the valves are as dale says; to do with revving the balls off them! i use 96RON (or whatever) fuel and i shot a set of inlets PDQ.

thanks for posting though. helpful infoi

If an engineer doesn't want his engine revved, he will fit a rev limiter. If, however, he wants us to rev the engine till the power drops off, he will market his product as the Husaberg 'Four-Stroke Force' with Factory race technology.

I agree, revs are an issue. Why is it that the exhausts in their hell fire environment sink less than the intakes. Assuming it is the better material the exhaust valves are made of, so why can't they make the intakes of some better stuff. Suppose those damn bean counters are at work here again.
