Hello and thanks in advance for any help or insight. I have a 96 fc 400 and am having trouble getting it started. last time I took it out a couple weeks ago i had no issues. yesterday I was dying for a ride and it wouldnt start. posted about simillar prob and changed plug and it started right up. (thanks Taffy). could the plug be fouled after only 2 hours? the main concern I have is the fact that I can kick it one or two times then it locks up on me and it wont kick again right away. The bike has no decompress lever on the bars. Possible causes and possibile cures to both issues?

Thanks

concentrate on the mixture for a while. get new parts in the carb and they will make it run correctly and leaner.

you're fouling the plug because the carb is worn and everything is at the edge of where it wants to work. for instance you've probably got a weak spark and an old camchain, tuliped valves, tappets set wrong etc. I'm not saying all these things but think of a poorly stacked pile of books as opposed to a neatly stacked set!

the decomp will come right if the bike starts regularly.

regards

Taffy
