I finally got around to doing the clean up on my bike after the Phx ride two weeks ago and this is what I found.

I did the kick start shaft replacement last september and ever since have had an unusual amount of leakage from the rear end portion of my transmission cover. After talking with the community I found my error, I did not apply a sealant to the area specified in the workshop manual. I opted to live with it for the time being and decided to correct the mistake this week.
While the cover was off I also decided to fit a rubber o-ring on the DECOMP LEVER BACKSIDE as I was getting some oil leakage in this area as well. While trying to get the lever in the appropriate position to fit the o-ring I was getting some nasty sticking and binding. So off goes the clutch and kick start shaft and I found this DECOMP LEVER. After spending some time going over everything I give a call to Dan over at Motoxotica and order up all my parts including the bearings and seals for the water pump, a water pump impeller, gaskets & o-rings, and that little plastic hard stop for the kick starter.... I like dealing with Dan as he has everything in stock and shipped that same day, :thumb: thumbs up Dan, thanks for the Berg bits. I should have "the box" in possession on friday.
Also while doing this mumbo-jumbo I find that the breather tube from the valve cover to the frame is brittle and cracked causing some serious leakage on the top of my stallion :( . No biggie, time to do the breather mod so many have done before. A few trips to the local auto stores and home improvement shops and I have all the trinkets and do-dads to do that as well.
This weekend is staged for some special "TLC time" for Brutus Maximus and I to bond :sandwich: and I will post up my results after I get things back together.

Regards,

HI Skip!,

Kind of opened a can of worms eh? I know the feeling but, at least you found some problems before they became a "real" problem. Is this the first time you've replaced those components on your bike? If it is that's not too bad for a bike that's 4 years old. Especially the breather tube on top of the motor, that rubber or whatever it is, is so thin it dries out in a hurry and really starts spooging all over the place. And the replacements are bit pricey, but, I usually carry a small section of 5/8" heater hose that you can run from the spigot on top of the motor directly to the frame tube upside down periscope thingie.

And yes, Dan is the man! Like you said, he seems to always have the parts in stock.

Good luck with your repairs,
