Okay, I installed the auto decomp (dutch clog)upgrade on my 98 600 last nite. I put it all back together, installed the starter and tried to spin the motor on the work bench. The starter spun till tdc and couldnt push it through a cycle. Experimenting I snugged up the exhaust valves and the starter really labored to spin the motor but spun the motor. I was a little concerned about the dutch clog when I installed it. It seems to "over rotate" in the decomp position. The nub that lifts the exhaust valve does not sit at 90 degrees on the cam but at about a 45. I thought this would be enough clearance but I guess not. My thinking is I have to add some material to the decomp so that it sits off the cam and brings the nub to a 90 degree angle. Is my thinking right? Can I do this with some J-B weld or should I get something welded and then grind it down? I hope I made this clear enough, thanks!
