Appears to be a WP Extreme 50 mm as per 98 Bergs. OTTOMH 5w @ 120 mm would be OK to start with.

Thanks for the instruction. I read it but do not have it in it how many ml of oil is poured into the pen. If you know how many ml you need in one pen!

The oil level is from the top of the tube. Remove the spring then collapse the fork. Add oil, stroking the tube/damper assembly as you do to bleed any air out. With the tube collapsed/compressed, then the oil level should be 120 mm from the top.

Some random internet pics, ignore the numbers though;

Use a syringe to extract excess oil.

Or even get the real tool:

As to actual volume, get a litre which will do both forks. I don't recall an actual volume, maybe 350-400 ml per leg?

Its been a while since I did a fork oil change on the old girl, only get about 20 kms per year on it these days. I think about selling it, but then for what end?

I seem to have gravitated to my DR650SE for adventure riding rather than my Bergs doing harder stuff. DR is now 790 cc with a full Nova box, ported big valve head and an FCR41. Goes as hard as my FE650 now, even with all the extra mass.

yes but you didn't do all that to the berg but had to do it to the Suzuki!

you're on about your 501 I presume? you can't tell me you don't desire a lightweight thrash on a day without the kitchen sink?

BTW, in no way could you ride that Suzie (bebe) in Wales. they scream for a 250 4T there and even then they are too much for them at 110KG.

I was in Wales a fortnight ago and they were all talking about smaller and lighter....and less ppower but men won't say 'less power' it is called 'smaller and lighter'.

in the meantime I creamed the lot. oldest man on the oldest bike.

cheers

Taffy

It could be argued that the Berg didn't need 'upgrading', but a DR650? First time I rode one I thought it was a heap of ****, and stock they sort of are, but....

Yes, my 98 FE501 has WP Extremes fitted.

Now back to our original programming.....

Всем привет ещё раз! Теперь у меня такой вопрос. Новые сальники я нашёл для этой вилки на эбеи. Мне нужно поменять втулки в вилке но я не могу их найти на эбеи может кто подсказать какие мне нужны!
