had the privalege of trying both these bikes today and im sorry to say they are one hell of a pair of machines.both bikes where 2007 modles only one glitch on both suspention needed setting up for me.got home and took the 650 for a run and it just felt flat i know mine is a 2003 but these things flew very sharp in the turns and pulled like a train out of the cornrers these bikes are seriouse competitors for the off road crown.

Hi Wesh155,
hope you had your fun there - but I guess you did

Tell us bit more about the test-situation, was it MX-track, trail riding, or what???
What surface? How long did you ride them? What did you like, not like?

And what did you like more one those bikes than on your Berg? :?:

I´m a surprised, cause I don´t like both bikes a lot :
KTM engines is way to rough from idleing, not very easy to control -
suspensionwise the 07 KTM´s are far the best modelyear yet, but way to nervous for me, they only work well when you´re really pushing hard
Looks like I´m not fast enough for a KTM :(

Aprilia has made huge development from 06 to 07, suspensionwise, and now with new Akrapovic the engines feels better;
but i really HATE the superdirect throttle response, you just touch the throttle 1mm - and the engine revs like crazy
and EFI either works or not, have seen too manys not working/starting and beeing brought to dealerships for software-updates
Hello - this is an Bike from Italy,a permanent running ventilator, a real sick noise from the engine when starting...
I believe it´s a fantastic "dual-perpose" bike, but not good for the harder stuff (to heavy, to beautifull)
also cause of the aggresive throttle response, a lot testers mistaken this to be very powerfull

Any both bikes are brand new and have their own, strong positve charakters but in opinion,
they are still miles away from a berg, serious

they are race bikes , sharp , aggressive and no compromise .

in the case of the aprilla , it is new and still needs to be sorted . i would be interested to know
the cost of a rebuild , it's a twin cylinder and would not be cheap .

track was a typical enduro some fast straights with some ruts and bumps tight twisty section rocky down hill section water splash and a deep mud hole with water splash after.what you have to remember these two bikes are baisicaly works bikes road both types non trick and fully tricked the tricked aprillia had non of the sharp throttle response just smooth useable power and a lot of it more than i could handle the 550 in trick form is defo not for me.i heard the weight distrabution was bad but to be honest never noticed they do over heat if your not carefull and stand idling for more than 5 mins when run.suspention was rough to start but a few tweeks and it was fine on both bikes.you are right about the standard bike the throttle is very snappy but the dealers will sort this free of charge im told.now the ktm this one didnt impress me much to sloppy standard and alot of money to trick out the trick bike was good not as good as the aprillia but still better than stock turned a dream in fast and slow corners but there is just somthing about these bikes that doesent do it for me.both bikes fast yes stock form a defo no got to get both tricked out to get the best from them.
