Anyone using the CV4 heat blanket?

I thought I saw a post about it somewhere on this site.
Anyway, I found the company website and looked it up. It looks cut-to-fit. I'd like to put it on my 2011 390 when I get it. IF it hides under there so I don't see it hanging out there like a space blanket.
If there is something better out there, I'll get it. I don't like the sounds of boiling gasoline.
I'm getting the fan kit too.

I'm using the CV4, exhaust wrap and fan. The CV4 is a bit fiddly to mount but it is a very fiddly fuel tank. We haven't got to summer here yet but the fuel was bubbling away in 30 degrees or so. Unfortunately all this wasn't enough to stop the Made in China fuel pump from dying.

I posted my install in a prior thread.

If you still have boiling fuel, have you still got the ball in the fuel cap? Fuel under pressure boils at a higher temperature. I put my ball back in the cap where it should be 'science over gut feel'.

my fuel pump died at 15 hours.
new pump, CV blanket, takes some time to install, but it fits pretty good.
and doesn't hang out. I also encased the fuel line from where it comes out of
the tank to the FI inlet in heat blanket like material. also double wrapped
the full exhaust header. did GNCC here in Lake Wales Fl last week, bike ripped.
even iced fuel (93 no ethanol.) on pit stop as soon as i opened the gas cap bike died.
i though the fuel pump was done. filled it up, put cap on, started right up and away i went.
I think the fuel vaporizes at pump inlet, under pressure again, good.
2hours 20 minutes at race pace, 80f, no problem opened cap at end of race and
it was boiling away. don't know what more I can do, but new pump can take the heat.
good luck. i would saftey wire, wires on fuel pump together so they don't pull off.
i hear in 2011 they changed the tank material.

I have the CV4 blacnket, heat wrapped the pipe, removed the gas cap ball and in-line gas cap hose check, drilled out the gas cap vent, and only in very slow techincal stuff do I still get boiling vapors coming out the over flow of the cap. No actual fuel, but can smell its hot. The first ride without doing all the above, was much worse. 18 Hours on the bike now and runs like a champ.

My next idea is fabricating a under chassis exhaust that dumps into a square box between the skid plate and engine and have it come up in the hollow area of the siwngarm then into the exhaust. Get rid of the pipe next to the tank and leg. I am going to work with a fabricator on flow and minimization of loss of ground clearance.

Hmmm ... interesting idea ... but won't you just be transferring the trapped heat load to the engine cases? And possibly over-heating your oil instead of your gas? Just thinkin' out loud ....

How are you guys getting the CV4 blanket to fit with the fan? On my bike this is causing interference which won't allow me to bolt the radiator back on.

I installed the CV4 blanket on my '11 FE570S (I would put this bike in my sig but I don't have the req'd 5 posts yet).

I also installed the factory fan and initially I couldn't bolt the right radiator up because the back of the fan was hitting the gas tank. I realized that I bolted the fan to the fan bracket with the bolt heads on the inside of the bracket driving aft instead of the bolt heads aft of the bracket . This is hard to explain but bottom line is you may have done the same.
If you bolt the fan on the first way I described above it sticks out too far from the radiator. But correctly bolting it up the fan is almost touching the radiator.
Sorry for the long winded post but hope you understand.

Thanks for the reply! If I understand you correctly then I think I have made the same mistake as I installed the fan on the rear side of the bracket. That would explain why it's so tight even without the blanket on...

How did you get remove the screws, did you drill out the rivets? Not looking forward to drill in the side of my rad...

Yup you did the same thing I initially did. And the reason I installed the fan on the bracket that way (the wrong way) was because a very well known KTM/Husaberg dealer principal (who shall remain unnamed because he is usually very good) told me to "be sure and bolt up the fan to the bracket before you rivet it onto the radiator, otherwise you can't access the bolts". Oh well, live and learn

Yes, to remove the screws you'll need to drill out the rivets.....not too bad of a job, I slightly bent a few of the fins but no big deal. Then reinstall it the correct way after you go out and buy some new rivets...I forget the size just bring an old one for comparison.
