I was just wondering if anyone uses the crossover helmets like the Arai XD3 or other simular motard, enduro style helmets that you can take the peak off and remove the visor or use both at the same time. Looked at 3 Arai, BMW and Shoei and they look like really nice lids.

I have a Shoei Hornet that I use with my 950 Adventure. I love this helmet. It's reasonably quiet at speed and is very comfortable. I still use a regular dirt helmet when I ride my Husaberg.

I use my hornet for both road and dirt riding. I like a shield better than googles. I don't like the visor at high speeds. I wish that it did push as much air as it does. And the visor is useless for sun blocking.

I have an Airoh S4 that I sourced from the UK. It's not DOT approved for North America, but meets all the European standards. The price was right, around $300 cdn at my door with an extra visor.

I use it for dualsport work. If I'm on the dirt all day I use my dirt helmet and googles. The S4 works great for me on the street or on longer adventure trips. Sunglass fit nicely under the visor. It's nice to have a visor in fouler/colder weather as well. For longer rides at speed it's nice to have a quiet helmet that deflects wind.

Aaron.
