Found some old posts by Icelanders here. The earliest seems to be from 2012. Anyone still active? Einhverjir enn í Berg-stuði? :)

There are at least quite few Husabergs around Iceland. Strong presence in local enduro rides.

We used to have a lot of active users that fit your criteria, the earliest that I know of on the UHE that everyone knows today is sveinn-enduro, the 8th person and Iceberg, the 14th person to register when I moved everyone from a standalone forum system to the CMS we used from 01 until the next CSE(Catastrophic Server Event).

Before that system, we had even more when the site was hosted on a free Anglefire page and used a hosted forum solution. Unfortunately, I can't remember the names from that far back, but I remember quite a representation from the Icelandic crowd.

You look very lonely on the member map :( Maybe your post will get a few to plant their flag :)

As schwim says, there was quite the Icelandic Berg presence here in the past. All good guys too! Hope they drop by and visit this thread.

not icelandic and no longer live in iceland... but just left after living there for 3 years and was the place I learned to ride moto on a husaberg!

Miss it for sure :)

Seems like I'm the only one active currently :)

Let me know if any of you come 'round these parts! For what it's worth, I have at least one bike to lend.

Any plans to revisit, jeffk95z? And if I may ask, were you working or studying?

Thanks Taffy, will do!

I work for CCP Games and should be there in May for our yearly EVE Fanfest and very well may take you up on that second bike :)

I know the guy that I sold my '08 450 to before leaving was a member on this site, but I forget his name. He said at the time he was planning on a rental fleet of bikes for MX and maybe some offroad tours.

Not sure if anything came of that though, but it does look like he's selling my bike again:

(oh how I miss that machine! Only have 40 hours on my 2011 390, but at this point i think i'd rather the older 450)

By all means get in touch! I know quite a few people over at CCP!

Interesting re. the rental fleet. There really should be a way to run a respectable fleet here if done right. I have been doing my best to stave off thoughts of buying up cheap DR-Z's and running an high-fun low-cost rental thing myself. It's sheer insanity for me to be thinking about this being as busy as I am, but it's an interesting thought experiment for me. Best of luck to this person - please get in touch if you see this, mister :)

P.s. - that's a really nice 450! Do you know if those are Trelleborg or Mitas tyres? Or Metzeler perhaps? Looks like the same pattern as the Trelleb./Mitas tyre I use on my DR-Z. The perfect aggressive dual-sport tire for Iceland. If they work well on a 'Berg 450, that's another vote of confidence for me to try them on the 570.

they are Mitas XT 644 tires that I bought from N1, and they worked amazingly well!

i didn't put alot of milage on them, but i'd guess somewhere between 1,000-1,500 km's with a decent mix of tarmac/offroad, including a big interior tour/ride from reykjavik to lanmanalaugar and touring around there.

And they still had tons of life left!

I had (and still have for my 390) a set of 17" supermoto wheels that I was swapping back and forth between, so it kept the milage low on both sets.

I REALLY miss the rallycross track in Hafnarfjordur. I spent many great evenings there w/ the supermoto wheels.

But yea, I felt the guys idea of a light weight rental fleet made sense as well. I know Biking Viking rents bikes, but it's mostly the much larger adventure bikes. Works great for ring road tours with detours for off-road. But a full on offroad tour, i'd think they'd be a bit much and not near as playful :)

Yup! Totally agree.

P.s. - for what it's worth, an '09 570 just went up for sale locally :) Starting price 800k ISK. Not bad IMO.

I can't resist not saying hello to all my Icelandic friends. I admire your country and political, economical and overall liberal actions and moves that you accomplished in recent years. I could only wish to live in such an advanced community.

The only thing that Croatia is a lot better in than Iceland is football.

:D :D

Cheers!

M.

Haha!! Yep, that was proved the other day. Your manager also very convincingly whipped the *** of one of our silly sports reporters. That was very refreshing. I'm sure there are further things that Croatia does better - I've heard some really good things about the beaches! And we are total crap at forests - please find attached a photograph of youths playing in an Icelandic forest:

I have some Icelandic friends who lived in Croatia - at one point even during the troubles in the 90s. They love the place deeply. I'd very much like to take a bike trip over to Croatia and thereabouts in the next few years.

Anton, are you referring to the "beer issue"? If you are...yes that pissed them off, only 70 beers?!? Only Vida from Dynamo Kyiv had 70. Others felt they were underestimated... :D

Well, I am an Icelander (Heimir Bardason) still around, registered somewhere around 2001 more or less when this great site started. Actually this is my first post for a number of years.
Bought the first Berg in Iceland, a 1996 leftover model with the better 1997 motor ( FE 501). Light as a butterfly and ran like hell. Used it for everything. Reliable as anything out there. Lasted forever.
Was very active on this site for quite some time but then things "fade away" as they tend to do. Still own a Berg, the mighty "Brutus Maximus" a 2001 FC 550 brute. Fantastic bike. Use it in Motocross / enduro / 6 hour races / weekend riding all over Iceland, whatever. The perfect bike.
And yes, the SEM ignition is stone stock, as is the complete head, piston, piston rings, cylinder and the whole lower case. Think about that, you Japanese teapots!
My first major maintenance was last summer; I had to buy new cases from Taffy as there were cracks in 3 different places in the old one. Well, 12 years of active duty.......

Good to see a fellow Icelander here!
Best,

Hi Swim.

How flattering that you remember me !
I must say that you deserve a statue of yourself mounted close to Endurowagen, in the homeland of Mr.Thomas Gustavsson, Sweden to hold this site operational all this time!

I actually opened up a new account so I could "kickstart" myself to life again. If you think it is better that I use my old account, please do so and notify me the new password.

Greetings from the "Land of darkness" (at the moment 2-3 hours of some kind of light resemblance)
Best,
Heimir Bardason

I sent you a PM sir.

I would settle for getting to sit down and having a cup of coffee with the honorable Mr. Gustavsson :)
