This is what happened, I was competing in a 4 hour offroad / mx race and in the last hour my bike stopped running.(which was not a pretty sight being the only Husaberg in a field of 100 bikes…) My first idea was that something was wrong with the carburetor because it felt like running out of gas. It stalled, came back again for a few seconds and stalled completely. I tried to restart and it almost started but soon enough the battery went dead. At home I recharged the battery and tried the obvious things but nothing helped. Then I pulled out the sparkplug and bingo, no spark. Put in a new one, didn’t help. Looked at the wiring and all seems ok. There are 3 “thingsâ€Â

Sounds like a Stator to me. Exactly what happened to me about 2 hours from nowhere in southern utah on my 98 fe600e. Ran great then acted like it was running out of fuel. it was running good, then a sputter, fluctuation power and finally just quit. my 02 fc470e has yet to give out on me but i replaced my very bad looking stator before it left me in a lurch. go hrough the hard start guide and check the wiring with an ohm/volt meter as described.

:( :( We have to admit that the japanese technology is a top one. Luckly HUSABERG has rich that also. I don't understand why all th european brands of bikes used to fit the SEM ignitions. Probably due to economic and profit reasons for the factories and no respect for the people who buy the machines. The SEM ignitions are the whorst **** I ever seen. And, "amazing" there are brands who still use it. Some time ago with my 98 FE400E I've been stuck in the midle of the bushes with a dead stator (a new one fited half an hour before). One of these days with my 01 FE501E I've been stuck on the midle of the highway "Again" with a dead stator.
Luckly I know a guy who repair them, give 6 months of warranty and assure it gets better than from factory.

cheesehead,i am origionally from wisconsin so i like cheese!now for the advise.buy new stator, repeat new stator, install new stator, start motor cycle, move on to other issues and forget about this unfortunate one.dan.

maybe a cheaper option

does any one know if the ktm stator part n#58031002050 will work on any of the husabergs i think i read somwhere that they have been used

the stator is on the ktm lc4 400 1997

With a problem like yours I've tried several options, since the original new one with prohibitive price of 500,00€, passing to the KTM 580.31.002.50 at 204,30€ plus VAT and finaly with mine repaired.

I've been informed by the Portuguese KTM importer, that some Husaberg people used to buy this stator to fit on their bikes.

The repaired one (see pictures in my gallery) costed me only 60€ plus delivery and works fine untill now, and already made 200Kms. Lets see what the future brings.
:) :)

i am not sure about that ktm stator.i had a customer get one,i think it was that stator for his 2001 470 and he could not seem to dial it in properly.it had spark but it acted like it had a stator that was on its way out.perhaps that dist in portugal is your answer.dan.

Motoxotica do you know the price of a husaberg stator in the US that ktm partis aprox $170.00

in response to nzberg. husaberg part #25012501 is a stator for bikes 1989 thru 1998.it is only the stator, flywheel is not included.our price on that part at this time is $215.00US.Most of the complete flywheel assy which include the stator and flywheel we sell for $350 to $395.they have been getting more expensive for us for about a year and a half now.probably have gone up about 1/3 in price.

After reading all the reactions, I ordered a new stator and coil on Thursday. The parts arrived on Friday! and that evening the bike was running. Yes, it was the stator and it was without any visible water damage or any other foreign bits. I returned the coil, the old stator and the new flywheel to the Dutch importer and he will send me a € 165,00 bill. Reading some of the stories about ordering spare parts and waiting long time to get them, I think we are lucky to have a dealer in the Netherlands who has a good stock and reacts quickly. Of course it surprises me that a Husaberg stator is a wear part.
Off topic: I also ordered the 05 front exhaust pipes to get rid of the front wheel hugging the old pipes to bits. It works. Tip: use the Honda hollow copper exhaust rings to get a little more space between the frame and the right pipe.
