Hey all,
I'm a new Husaberg owner, picked up a 2005 FE450E the other week and it's a ripper of a bike but very rattly.

So the paranoia's set in and I've found a video on youtube of one with a similar sound...can anyone place it?

I'm really hoping it's something simple like camchain and not bearings.

cheers,
Ben

I think its OK. I think you'll know if its time to check it out. If it sounds OK in the mid RPM rang, it's shoud be fine.

pull the zorst, undo the middle tensioner bolt FIRST, remove the 1st and 3rd then so you are removing the tensioner. check how far out the tensioner is and i bet you have no adjustment left.

you know the rest.

Cheers, is changing the camchain an engine out of frame job or something I can do just by removing the left cover?

it's a rocker cover off job. you can leave the sidecover alone even as long as you are COMPETENT.

these are the risks:

drop either end of the old chain
the chain jumps a tooth and you didn't notice it etc
you drop the split/soft link down there
as you feed the new chain around it falls off the link you left in without the clip

it's hairy stuff!

Taffy you were right on the money, the auto-tensioner was on it's last tooth.
I'll be hitting up your ebay store shortly.

Am I right in thinking the old chain has a removable link?

could be either way. 60/40 it does have a soft link. i already have a chain in australia with bushmechanic so when you pay me he will be sending it to you! i gave him a 66L chain for his 650 the other week.....as bart would say; doh!!!

regards

Taffy
