Well I am a proud owner of a 01 FX650E. I took her out for my first ride on Saturday. We road about 30 miles in the tight trails of Northern Michigan. All I have to say is wow what a handfull. More power than I could have desired. She requires a lot of thottle controll. I did have a few issues with the weep hole loosing some oil. I here this is normal. I am not used to a motor leaking oil. The other issue is the suspension seemed a little harsh on the small roots and rocks. She beat me up pretty good. I am having a difficult time getting use to the left side kick start. I am very uncordinated with my left leg. It was the first ride out after a long and hard winter. So I expect to be a little sore and out of shape. Don't missunderstand me I am not bitching or winning about the Husee. I love the bike. She is just different from any other bike that I have owned. This bike turns like a 2 stroke and feels light.

So now I need some opinions: Is the orangeberg fix a must do? Does it work? I am not the type of person that can live with seeping oil from the motor. I think I will be spending a lot of time on this website reading and learning about ways to make my Husee fit me. Tanks everyone for this website and keep it comming..

Welcome to the site. I have found that the weeping will begin at around 50 hours use and will require a new water pump bearing/seal and impellar shaft o-rings. I don't know how long the Orangeberg kit will last.

welcome to the world of the fx650. quite a beast, huh? throttle control can be helped by investing in a g2 throttle cam to slow the response (poor man's version is to velcro your thighs to the tank :eeeek: )
as for the suspension, i've got the same problem, the fx springs are heavier than the fe. its ok if you are an aggressive rider. if somebody were wanting to swap me a set of fe springs for my fx, i'd jump at it. so should you if you can't tweak the damping to come close to what you need.
i didn't think the weepy seal issue was in '01. thot that was '04 up. if its bad, do a new seal, but only if its bad
read the owner's doc found in the left margin and look at the red flag issues you need to be aware of in the '01. it was a transitional year for the engine, lotsa bugs. do the recommended upgrades.
