Nice!

You guys are making us proud!

Can't wait to see it on TV, if it is ever going to be played anywhere.

Husaberg claiming 5th place in the first race of the AMA Supermoto season is very good. Those are solid series points. A little more fine tuning and practice should improve results.

Congrats!

Thanks Brett (and everyone else), it was nice to finally meet you after talking so many times on the phone. We had a pretty good weekend to start the season!

By all accounts Robert Loire rode a phenomenal race from his 9th place qualifying position. With a late gearing change, Greg had Roberts bike working flawlessly. He got a great jump on the start and almost immediately became embroiled in a race long battle with Factory Aprilia rider Darryl Atkins and Joker Machine QTM's Justin Ross. As the race reached the halfway point, a couple of the leaders went out with mechanical failures, and their battle for 6th became a battle for 4th. Robert had the Kiwi looking over his shoulder 4 and 5 times a lap, but was unable to find a way past the big Aprilia V-twin, crossing the line just over a second back in fifth place.

My race was slightly less spirited, yet quite a learning experience. After qualifying with a 5th place finish in the LCQ, I took my spot in pole position (of the last row of the grid  ). The person in front of me stalled his bike just as the light turned green, resulting in some evasive action on my part and a piss-pour start. After a few passes (yes some of the people had crashed, but that still counts), I found myself in a pretty good battle for the 16th-18th place positions. Unfortunately, I didn't get any of them. As the laps wound down, they started showing me one of those fancy blue flags with the yellow stripe (Did I mention that Ben Carlson is reeaaally fast?) When a couple of the leaders came by, I ended up losing touch with the battle that I was in, and even losing another position, coming across the line in 19th place. Although I wish I could say that I was happy with my ride, I am satisfied that I at least accomplished 2 of my goals: qualifying for the main, and getting a point (2 actually).

We now have a month to do some more fine tuning on our bikes and ourselves, before welcoming the rest of the AMA Supermoto paddock to our back yard for the next 2 rounds of the series: Road America in Elkhart Lake, WI - June 3rd, and Shawano, WI - June 10th.

We would like to thank all our sponsors for helping us to get off to a great start this season: Brett, PartsGuy, and everyone over at Husaberg NA / BMG; Martin and Susan Horn at Aero P.A. Cycles, Factory Connection Suspension, Michelin and Tom Mason of Mason Racin Tires, Dale L. for his excellent tuning advice (we'll be in touch), and a special thanks to Robert's mom Lisa and my wife Amy for helping keep everything together and keeping our heads on straight over the weekend.

Finally, I would like to give some props to Mike Bergman who put in a great ride for 15th place in the ultra-competitive Lites class. Mike is a great rider and great guy, and will be traveling with us to many of the far races as a way to try to split up some of the fuel expenses. He is also the instructor of the Suzuki Supermoto schools at Road America, so if you are from the midwest and interested in learning to ride or race supermoto, I would recommend checking it out.

Best Regards,
Colin Horn
