just for those wo like to know. I took the new 09 450 for a spin in the Alto Turia Rally in Spain. 6 days of riding, 250 - 350 km per day in rocky terrain, lots of hills and steep mountains. Very technical specials between 20 and 65 km.

unsuprisingly the berg did great. i spent 50% of the rally iin the soft mode, and 50% in standard. fuel-wise it was more or less the same, about 16-17 km on a liter (10 miles)
on the steep climbs the soft setting was better, for the rest i preferred the standard setting.

I brought a 1 liter fuelbottle that saved my *** three times, boy is that tank small...

changed the oil and alle filters twice, that was about it. last 2 days on a new tyre, the power of the engine chops of the rubber quite easily. no problems qith spoke,s loose bolts or nuts, nothing. it brought me a 17th place out of 65.

last year 2 aussies participated! who will next year?

nice, made enquiries about doing it a couple of years ago but couldn't find anyone else who wanted to do it.

last few years there seems quite a bit of interest in it and quite a few brits doing it.

cheers

The rally was partially organized by a Dutch BMW dealer in the past and thus attracted a lot of would-be riders on way to heavy beemers. The tracks were therefore very easy.
Youytube it and you may find some funny stuff.
This partnership with the Dutch dealer ended in 2008, hence the much more challenging 2009 rally.
Living in Portugal and tasted the competition element in Erzberg I think I try and enter the 2010 rally. Had at least three customers of mine who entered this years rally and it seemed to be quite hard.

Ciao 4 now,
Adriaan
