I've hit a snag with my 01 fe650. I had the bike running well with new stator, cam , auto decomp DSVK del Orto refresh . I took the timing side apart to fix the sprague and sledge. Now, I can't seem to get it to go again. It used to start on the button, but now it turns over then hits compression and stops dead. I've checked timing, motor at TDC, cam lobes up, flywheel timing mark lines up with bolt hole. Valves adjusted four times now. Lots of spark. Been through most things three times. Tonight I pulled the cam cover to see if the adc spring was broken and it was good. It doesn't feel wound super tight but, the clog does snap back. does anyone have any suggestions or thought?

Hi
And with the kick, does it start ? Or is also too dificult to kick it also ?
The spring of ADC would be my first gess, but ??? When you let go the ADC (with it going up, not using his own weight to help) does it acelerate until the end or is it loosing speed ?

first start after playing in the cover must always be done with the kick. after that the leccy boot will be ok again. this goes for oil changes as well.

Well, came home today knackered from a Saturday training day and an enduro today. Figured I'd give the berg a try with my boot and I got it started. Woohoo! I've found a small oil leak on the timing side cover just aft of the kickstart lever. So, another issue to look after.

the 'peninsuler' around the kickstart can bow outwards.

i had luck with gluing a short piece of gasket to the gasket area around the "peninsula" on my '02 650
