hello¨
ive looked at my airfilter and it is quite sticky. a lot of airfilter oil on it. are there any level of how much filter oil u want on these filters. because my bike is quite hard to start.

So long as the old isn't dripping off the bike and on too the floor Your OK. Just as a test try starting Your bike without the filter see if any different. And/or try injunctor cleaner if that doesn't fix the hard starting it may be something else.

just a timely reminder to people:

In Taffy's opinion nobody should be using the 'oil bath' system. it is too much and changes the carburation. it is awful.

best idea is to spray the filter lightly. place in a plastic bag. kneed the filter from the outside to make wure the spray oil has been evenly spread.

end of lesson. Twin air filters are superior.

Never been a fan of spray oil. Paying for a majority of propellant, with a bit of oil. I would rather use the liquid, plus if it is done correctly, it doesn't mess with airflow. I start with a gallon size ziplock baggie (3.78 liters for you metric folks...) and pour a bit, then work it in. Repeat until a uniform color and let the alcohol disperse....then install.

I spray oil into or pour a little bit into a plastic bag , rub it through the bag , then stick the filter in and squeeze it around the filter. Ya don't get ya hands so messy that way and put a controlled amount on as mentioned above. I push the back of my half closed fingers into the inside of the filter whilst in the bag, ensuring you get good coverage up in behind the lip and back side also.

If I am riding that day or following day, I use canola cooking oil on the filter at times, this is probably not the recommend stuff though, for filters , but gets you out of trouble if ya run out.

I have also found , if you own a 2004-08 bike, you can get 2-3 rides at times before the filter needs a replacing. I find on the 2014 bike, every ride the filter just about needs doing , then the air box needs a clean also.
Cheers

Just been fitting a new one on the 675.
It is tight requiring disc grinding the FCR:eek:
I am good with grinders;)

After I massaged in the oil in my filters I put some paper towels in/around them and squeeze out the excess.
