Today I had my bike sitting on my lawn and the sidestand dug into a soft spot and the bike fell. The aluminum sidestand was tweaked and cracked around the bolt.

Now I need a new sidestand. What do you recommend?

Trailtech?

Promoto billet?

???

TIA

It looks like you are the pioneer in the field of LDC Stand replacements Codemonkey. Choose wisely and update us.

Congrats on your new job too.

I would do stock again , BUT put a bigger foot on it .
Sounds good to me.

Then again, I just spent a year battling with the sidestand on the Husky TE450, so after that anything would probably sound good. The stand on the FE is an absolute design classic by comparison (well you can get it down without leaning the bike 45 degrees away from you and at least on flat ground it holds the bike up with no danger of falling left or right, so that's two plus points for a start).

A bigger foot would sure help on soft ground though.

The stock stand is okay, but obviously it can break.

I looked around and found some sidestands for a KTM LC4, but I don't think they are the same as the KTM EXC or Husaberg.

I've asked on Thumpertalk and AdvRider with no responses so I guess I will have to explore on my own.

Trailtech makes some aftermarket stands for the KTM EXCs. They might have something that fits.

Yep mine just broke same as yours codemonkey, while washing it on the lawn after a ride, after 86mm of rain. Just be thankful you don't live here, the going rate is $173 AUD, they can be had from ktm-parts for $83 USD, plus shipping and a bit more for exchange rates. I should be able to afford a carton of cats piss with the change. :D

so whats the verdict codemonkey did you get on to a viable alternative ?

Sweet as, I'll go witht he orange piece. Good to hear you are busy with work finally.

Hi monkey man,

Here in the UK (having copious amounts of soft lush green lawns & boggy ground), we developed a little plate for sliding under your side stand to prevent such tipples.

Peanuts to buy & can be improvised with little if no imagination (& look, even Rossi will deliver it!!);

Save u pi$$ing about with side stand design...?

Hey folks.

Has anyone found out if there is an aftermarket alternative to the stock kickstand?

I like the design of the Pro Moto Billet with it's hidden spring, they don't show one that fits the newer Bergs though.

Mines in bad shape after this weekends race (I have a 2010 FE390).

Yep well I've been looking for a stronger stand for my 570 but so far no joy, I take it from the date of the previous post nobody else has found any either.

I guess I'll give up looking as well and have one fabricated.

Has anyone tried to mount a Pro Moto Billet PMB-01-3005 kickstand on the 2009-2012 FE's?

The Berg manual says the side stand is part # 78003023044, which is the same number listed for the KTM 450's. And PMB lists the 01-3005 as fitting the KTM bikes. So, it seems that it ought to work.

Has anyone tried one? Did it fit? Is it worth 2x the price of the weak stock kickstand?
