Advice

I found a 01 FC 550 but I don`t really know that much about them. The dealer is asking $ 4500 for it witch I think is way to much. I own a 96 FE 501 witch when ever I get off the couch :lol: I trail ride a little. It would have to be a whole lot better before I think of parting from my 501. Would the FC be better or worse? I`am doing window shopping right now and just need some input.

Well Bill, the 550 is a freakin animal and you have been around long enough to know the durability issues with the 01's. There is an 02 that has had some work done to it in the classifieds for less than half that price.

Doesn't sound like a deal to me [-X , not at all. I picked my '02 FC550 up brand new out of the crate with all the '03 upgrades included for $900 more than what this guy is asking for his '01 used bike. No comparison if you ask me. Keep looking elsewhere for a better deal, this dealer is waiting for a :crazy: to unload this bike on.

Just my opinion....

Thanks, the bike has been there I guess for over a year. The price tag is way to high and I really don`t need it. The 501 has more power than I will use. I guess the dealership will have to use it to hold their wall up for a while longer. Thanks for the advice.

Bill,

Stick with your 501 for now.

After riding with you in West Virginia, I think that you will always be happier with a FE instead of a FC. You are a trail rider not a motocrosser and I think you would miss the gearing and nature of the FE if you switched to the more aggressive FC.

I think you should save your pennies and buy a newer FE if you feel the need upgrade from your 96.

Thanks that sounds like a winner. I had a good time riding there because its so much like home before people started closing everything off. Do you still remember the jokes? Hope you and your family have a great year.
