Hi everyone, just recently got my first Supermoto, a 05' FS650E! The battery is dead and I'm really not a fan of kickstarting it...it takes forever for me. So I'm replacing the battery so I can use the electric start. How do I get to it? Remove seat/back plastics, then undo the rear shock? Do I have to take off the rear wheel? What is the easiest way to get to it?

Prop up the subframe and take out the shock bolts. That leaves enough room to slide the batteries out of and into the battery box.

there's no subframe on these bikes.

you can either pull the starter motor, unbolt the battery box and pull the hole this out the front, Or remove rear plastics unbolt the rear shock, unbolt the battery box and slide it all out the rear. I actually prefer to take it out the front but that's just me.

Congrats on getting an 05 650, I have one also and there a beast. FYI these electric starters are only re-starters so if you use it as an electric start it will wear out your sprague gear and the torque limiter gear.

I dont understand this restarter lark?

How does startin it from cold wear stuff out more than startin it from hot?
I always use it from cold. It takes less revolutions to start it from cold on mine than hot, so whats the diff?

Really? Because I can't kickstart my bike for the life of me. For some reason when I use the kill switch on the right hand side, I have to decomp the bike for the electric start to work again, otherwise it just makes a whining sound.
