was marking a race course today by myself when i decided to try out a line that i'd spied when i was out walking the dog last week.

there has been alot of clear felling and on the one hill theres about a 300m descent that so steep in places the inside peg is almost dragging in the dirt. then at the bottom the only way out is down and across a set of rock natural rock steps on the edge of a quarry - on a trials bike you'd be goin up and down easily- but on an enduro 8O

anyway all was going fine, dropped into the chute at the top, traversed to the right, dropped down another gulley, traversed to the right now wheres the exit?

only 30ft back up the hill! id over shot the line.

tried to ride it back up but that resulted in the bike virtually looping out, my knee popping out - and luckily back in - then the bike landing ontop of me :supersad:

so whilst i lay there pinned under the bike with petrol running up my leg pondering my situation i remember there was a reason not to got off trying new lines solo and this was it.

anyway managed to get out and then spent the time lifting the front and rear wheels alternately until i was on the line. By which time i was too knackered to trust myself riding down the steps so bummped it over the 2 steep narrow ones at the top the hopped on and rolled the others.

apart from that the course was rutted and whooped to hell - diggers are in there now flattening the worst and i need to drop a tooth on the front or add a couple to the rear.

bike ran a dream.

night,night

well opened the course and the diggers had spoilt some bits of the course but it bedded in during the first couple of laps and the ground was almost perfect, with just a very slight hint of dust in places.

rode all the course but didnt go too hard as my knee hardly fits in my knee pad, though it still didn't stop me going fast enough to have a couple of big moments where the rear wheel was trying to overtake the front across the whoops.

was thinking that i need to look at how i got the rear suspension set up but think it may be more to do with the worn out AC10 tyre i got on the rear. will change the tyres then go ride the same course again.

bike started on the button whether hot, cold, upside down or inside out, and on the open going i remembered why a 450 is so much fun.

its the first proper thrash since i did the rebuild before christmas and had a few compliments on how good it was sounding. As well as the starting strangely the fuel economy seems to have improved.

got 2 weeks off work at moment so i've got the difficult decision again next week. Do i do a trial or an enduro?
