I have just become the owner of a '99 FE600. Picked her up last nite. Went for my first, and slightly scary ride this morning. I last rode a '97 KX250 2 years ago, so the power is very impressive. :D

Bike won't start with the button. But I need to change plug and give it a good all over check, so not too worried. Starts easy with a kick. I'm just trying to find out if there are any problem areas on this model I should be careful of. Until I saw the ad for this bike I didn't know what a Husaberg was, kind of a Bergy virgin.

hi Trevorberg

if the bike is turning over when you are pushing the start button but just not starting try flicking the red switch back and forth while cranking .I dont know why but mine rarely starts on the button unless i flick the switch

cheers doug

44014... I to have a fe600 what red switch??
did a the 99 come with a high/low switch?

there is no high low switch, only a switch to turn allow the motor to start. If you hit the button and the switch is in the wrong spot it will not start.

That model if looked after is super reliable. You must watch the roller bearings in the rockers.

You must ensure you have a good condition new battery. Showing fully chareged is not always enough as the load rating can be down etc.

Only use the button as a re-start to save the sprag clutch. If it does not start listen to note whether motor turning over or only the starter gears. If motor turning over it may be a button on off switch problem or jetting. If motor not turning over you need a new sprag clutch for the starter and other bits that are expensive. See if it works as a restart before messing around too much and yes try a new battery.

good luck

Thanks for the advice. I took a look at Taffy's Doc, I'll be sure to check the rockers and I'll be getting a new timing chain. Don't want any surprises.
