One thing you will find is that a bloke here in Oz rewinds them, but I have not heard of any successful rewinders in your part of the world. Dale Lineawaver would know if & where they might be done in US.

Sometimes it happens. Once I fit a brand new one on my 98 FE400 and run only 10Kms.
On Ebay.de (www.ebay.de) search for Husaberg and you find a SEM ignition to sell for less than 130€.

These rewind articles only refer to adding to the low voltage charging windings - perhaps 200 turns in total of #18 (about 1/16") diameter wire onto a former that is already bare.
The part of the stator that dies to cause lack of spark has 4 windings each about 3500 turns of wire just thicker than your hair. But first you have to get the black potting material off to get to them. The job can be done at home but you have to be prepared to make up some tools & jigs & then have more patience (or stubbornness) than sense!

Well, that'll teach me to believe what I read. Thanks for the correction. I'm seeing prices of well over $100 for rewinding. I paid ~$120 for a new one a couple of years ago.
