OK guys it finally happened. While riding my 96 dualsport Berg to a friends house it just quit running. After pushing my Berg home, I found that there was no spark. Any ideas???

STATOR......STATOR.....they are not that expensive .and SEM has a history ...i could be wrong ...but that would be unusual ...BERGDADDY

Go browsing the forums - two below the "Home" menu item - & check out "electrical". There are lots of threads about statators & spark.

One thing you will find is that a bloke here in Oz rewinds them, but I have not heard of any successful rewinders in your part of the world. Dale Lineawaver would know if & where they might be done in US.

Sometimes it happens. Once I fit a brand new one on my 98 FE400 and run only 10Kms.

On Ebay.de (www.ebay.de) search for Husaberg and you find a SEM ignition to sell for less than 130€.

Good luck

If I'm not mistaken, Ricky Stator will rewind it. I got one new not too far back from Malcolm Smith for not much more than Ricky wanted to rewind my old one though.

Malcolm Smith does not carry Husaberg anymore. I e-mailed Ricky Stator, he does not repair them. Ricky did give me a phone number to Garys Custum Rewinds. Does anybody have any experiance with Gary. Will be calling him tomorrow.

Sorry to send you in the wrong direction. Even if you find someone to rewind it, it would still be worth pricing a new one.

I found the following link you may want to look at:
http://www.offroadplus.com/inc/pdetail?v=1&pid=254

If you want to rewind your own:

These rewind articles only refer to adding to the low voltage charging windings - perhaps 200 turns in total of #18 (about 1/16") diameter wire onto a former that is already bare.

The part of the stator that dies to cause lack of spark has 4 windings each about 3500 turns of wire just thicker than your hair. But first you have to get the black potting material off to get to them. The job can be done at home but you have to be prepared to make up some tools & jigs & then have more patience (or stubbornness) than sense! :) Post if you want to go there.

Well, that'll teach me to believe what I read. Thanks for the correction. I'm seeing prices of well over $100 for rewinding. I paid ~$120 for a new one a couple of years ago.
