Hi guys, sold a Honda crf250 and got a 2011 fe390 today.

One owner, awesome condition. Pumped to get out on a trail.

Gonna need some kind of security like key or immobiliser so keen to see what you guys have done to solve that

Security for FE390

I also have an FE390. Two ideas:
1. Get a good disc brake lock. Light and easy to carry, good security.
2. When you park, remove the seat the open the fuse box and remove
the ignition fuse. Always carry a spare in case you lose it! You can also Google something like "motorcycle security" etc. for good ideas. The guy here will probably have good ideas also. You COULD mount and wire in a key, but that is fairly easy to breach. - HusaGeezer

I am assuming that a key is required where you live.

Why not just put a switch inline on the ground wire for the kill switch. Or switch the main efi fuse. It will crank but no start.

I bought me a key switch, simple on/off, and put it in line with the starter button. Since the machine does nothing unless it is started.

2011 fe 390

Bought my 2011 FE 390 from a mate on 27 April. Good condition with 70 hours and 2000 kms on the clock. First chance to ride it was last Sunday in state forest near where I live on the Mid North Coast NSW. I have just transitioned from a Kawasaki KLX 250 (modified for the bush and single trails). Needless to say they are chalk and cheese. The Burg performed excellent. On tight single trails it soaked up the corners and burms. Climbed some knarly hills like a tractor. Just kept going thanks to a great knobby tyre and it's awesome power train..... until I hit a large rock and dropped it half way up a hill. After some suspension adjustments (you have to drop the rear shock out to adjust riding sag, etc) I took it out again yesterday. Near perfect. It makes a slightly older rider like me (53) look like a better rider than I am. I didn't get a key for the steering column lock but I don't intent riding on the road or parking it on the street. I keep it in my garage or lock it up with a chain and padlock in my rear yard. Apart from this the best protection I have is 'full insurance'. You're going to love riding it.

I too am 53 and riding the same bike. I'm curious what suspension changes you made to feel the difference. whats your height and weight?
