I have a 99 501 kickstart only motor and was curious if it is possible to swap on a 650 jug and head? I couldnt find any specs anywhere in the doc, so I was just curious if anyone was aware of what would be needed to do this, if possible. Thanks

The piston and head are the same for the 501 and 600 (not 650 for a 99).

I think all you would need is the 600 cylinder and studs (taller), 600 crank ( longer rod) and the 600 timing chain (longer).

I am not sure about the crankshaft differences as you may be able to just use the 600 rod in the 501 crank but my guess is they are probably different.

The 600's used a 40mm carb. Not sure if your 501 has a 38 or 40. A 38 might be useable.

Yes, kick and e-start on 600cc models from 1995-2000. The 650 was born in 2001 with a new 2nd generation motor.

as you'll see, this piece of profound news news didn't get one single phucking reply. If I sound like I think everyone is an ***** round here - well now you know why!

for your information: your head has 35/27 valves or may even have 31/27 valves with small ports while the KTM head will have 35/30s and opens the door to all kinds of cams and carbe etc.

it was news, not a question. all of us who read it just nodded our heads in agreement, no reply necessary. waste of energy. i mean "it's crackers to slip a rozzer a dropsy" eh?

To clarify a bit, that would be a KTM RFS Head no doubt as the RFS motor is an update of the original Husaberg motor.

I think the fact, as you stated that the KTM waterpump housing is far bigger, is a huge benefit especially on a 600. The impellar is also larger and of a better design. In fact I used a KTM RFS impellar on my 97 and had to reduce the diameter from 53.18 mm to 49.63mm to fit the Husaberg head.

Its very similar on the inside. You would probably, at the least, need to get the exhaust header pipes as it looks like the KTM part is a bit different. Some exhaust fabrication would probably be needed.

the camsprocket has different pitch teeth otherwise I'm struggling to think of another difference. and you get a modern KTM decomp!
