How far from the top of the barrel do your piston's stop at TDC ?

mine is about 1.8 mm from the top. is that common?

It looked like it was flush when i assembled it.

The engine is running, has been for over a year.
I'm thinking ahead for next rebuild on how it is supposed to be stock.

By the way mine is probably a little lower because i have a flat 550 piston in
it from wössner. I did compare it to my stock which was dished but did not
go all the way to the top either (forgot to measure it).
It looked like i would not lose much on compression height only the dish edge.
Got it real cheap that's why i have it.(was low on cash)

I think a heard some one on the forum talk
how his piston goes all the way up on his 650.
I think he had a newer 650 with the 80mm bell crank.

the dished OEM piston should go 0.2mm OVER the top of the liner on the 2004. that gives you a 1.2mm gap to the head when the gasket is on. If I recall correctly, the 04 was the closest the piston ever got to the head and in 2005 they found another .2mm or so to make the gap safer.

Isn't that the 2005 bell crank engine?
At least mine did not go all the way, far from it.

Did you guy's know the 2004 650 engine was one of crank and engine cases.

no, I have found the 04s to be dead on the limit and the bell cranks are back at a safe 1.4mm.

I think JBS may have used one and I may also have put one in the doc as used by Falicon in clearwater, USA? not sure. always best to get the right piston.

Well next time i have to rebuild the motor, I will post some numbers. i still have the stock piston from my bike
so i can put it in and do some mesurements. I will then upgrade to a bell crank and the later coated piston.
i will compare the weight of the cranks.
