Hi all,

I'm back with the berg after a few year away and getting stuck in.

I've got a 2002 fs650 supermoto. I've had a few. I've never had one start on the "restarter" and always kicked it,

The bike I've got has no lights and electrics are minimal.

I'm starting to wonder if it's worth having an electric starter system at all as I never use it?

If I removed the starter stuff would I still need the auto decompression or could I just remove the parts?

It seems people have issues with them?

My second issue is the kickstart lever. It seems to be a bit floppy? On My old berg it felt like it was on a spring and easy to return to its stowage. This one just flops about. The kick also seems to have too much play in it meaning a full kick seems hard. It sometimes doesn't return smoothly either?

get a new kickstart arm...they are worth it. especially the 2004-2008. it is 1" shorter than the old ones and curves when folded 'in' over the exhaust a little and has 4 ribs on the bit you kick.

the auto decomp is just that....automatic and hidden in the top of the engine fitted on the camshaft.

thinking of pulling it off? only Bushie would do that....

no mate, leave it there.

Sent you a Facebook video so you can see my issues. So a new kickstart arm would fix the flop!
