sounds silly but how feasable would it be to change a 570 into a 450? is it just piston/cylinder that is different and get a 450 map put in?

You would have to change the Crank too.

FE390 Bore/Stroke: 95/55.5 mm
FE450 Bore/Stroke: 95/63.4 mm
FE570 Bore/Stroke: 100/72 mm

570 stroke = 72 mm bore = 100 mm
450 stroke = 63.4 mm bore = 95mm
Feasable if you have bullk cash, you will need piston kit, cylinder and full crank assembly, gasket set and either the skillz to do the swap or pay a shop to do it, not cheap . IMHO it would be more cost effective to trade a used 570 on a new 450 if thats where you want to go. If you do go ahead with it I'm sure you could sell your 570 parts and recover a part of the outlay. Can I ask one question, why :?:

You took the words right outta my mouth davo. I'll send you some xxxx so you can change your map switch to aggressive.

Ha Ha berglsmerg ! How are ya mate? Thought you were off breaking rocks again.
Good to see a NSW boy quicker than a QLD boy for a change. Your response was of better quality than mine I must say :?

I'm good davo thanks for asking, yeah I'm in the NT busting stone but managed to crimp off some of the mine's wi-fi

pedroFS if you were to go ahead with the swap I would be interested in your top end ( piston etc ) or If you live stateside the cylinder could be sleeved to 105mm and sent over to me (for a nominal fee of course) perhaps 8

Pedro

why don't you consider requesting a barrel and piston swop with someone? you have the 100mm and they may have the 95mm?

sensible cheap start and bound to find someone who wants more when you want less?

Taffy

Taffy out smarted the both of us Berglsmerg. :D I guess that is why he is paid the big bucks.
570 Engine with 450 Cylinder would be a 510
450 Engine with a 570 Cylinder would be a 500

Just need someone to chime in and say, "I can re map the EFI it's easy." But that aint gunna happen is it?? :?

just run the bloody thing you big girls. at 5mpg do you really think the EFI is efficient?

she'll run fine and if she doesn't we'll sort that out later but i'll walk on my hands if it doesn't run spot on!

regards

Taffy

thanks guys, thought as much. It would be for my FS570 so I could run in S2 supermoto in the 450 class. Think I'd just buy an FE/FX450 and pull the bits over. also not cheap but I'd still have 2 bikes.

As in the Monty Python "Bruce" sketch about Australia?

Sorry for the Spanish inquisition :D

Don't mind a spot of the old Monty Python myself. My favorite has got to be the "He is not the messiah he is a very naughty boy"
Plus the bit where Brian falls into the spaceship and it sounds like it has a Quacka 900 motor in it. :D :D

Anyway Pedro I hope you get sorted out with the 450.

thanks. I'm racing the 570 this weekend. if I like it it'll stay 570. if there are way more 450's then come piston time I'll see what i can sort out.

390 to 450

and how feasible would it be to convert a 390 to a 450? Would I need to just replace crank and head?
