Hi everyone,

Just got a 2011/12 fe570 and am wanting to change the oil. I went to crack into it but my 1/2 inch sockets and wrench won’t fit over the bolt between the frame. I’m tempted to use a ring spanner but then I won’t be able to torque them to spec when I’m done. What does everyone else do?

Thankyou in advance :)

Yes, painful, mine needed to be removed with a chisel- I did buy it from a truck mechanic, though- buy a six point 13 mm socket, even 1/4" drive is OK as they DO NOT need to be tight. Everybody worries they will fall out! Won't happen. We had to Helicoil heaps at the shop, even needing to remove motor on some! You may find a bendy/ wobble drive may work, I tried an old school non ratchet 1/2 drive handle JUST fit between frame, jam a flatblade between frame and handle to maintain load while turning.
I bought a cheap (around $39) 1/4 drive torque wrench made for bicycles- goes up to 25Nm- perfect for the moto bolts, small enough to fit places.

Thanks everyone.
I ended up using a ring spanner for the drain bolts and I think I got them tight enough. No leaks. However I managed to strip the bottom filter bolt :/. Getting a helicoil put in tonight. Just want to tear up the streets already :(
