any body out there in berg land have any thoughts on trying to make my 04 501 a easier ride power wise .After another bad enduro tight woods lots of bogs this bike just seems to be making me ride slower just too much of a hit with the power, would the fe 550 cam take the hit off and smooth the power ? I know its seems daft but less would definitely be more :? what about a 2 stage ignition ,unlless anybody fancys a motor swap 501 for 450

Eat lots of pizza, donuts, big macs and stuff loaded high fructose corn syrup.

Perhaps try:

Disconnecting the TPS

****** the ignition timing a bit

Add some flywheel weight

Also try Dales needle and disconnect the accelerator pump.

Heck, if its plugged in disconnect it!!

What Jetting Are You Using? When We Spoke On The Phone You Mentioned That The Bike Was Running A '53 Cam? Thought That Was On The SEM Engine Only.
Might Be Worth Looking Into A Vortex Set Up If Its Using The Kokusan,Then You'd Have A Few Different Settings.
Might Be Worth Disconnecting The TPS And Trying Taff's Jetting As Mentioned In The Doc.
What About Doing a 496 Conversion?

done the bk mod on the pump got a rekcluse fitted , been to keep fit class's twice a week with me bro ! love the bike for hare n hounds were things tend to be a bit more open , reckon its got more to do with the ***** twisting the throtle than out else maybe i should ditch the nitros kit

What's your final ratio?

I have 1 less tooth in the front. Hmm I don't remember what my final ratio is, but I like it a lot more like that. It's still got the hit but it's become more manageable, stalls less and is a breeze to ride on single tracks. As for the wide open stuff, I promised myself to stay away from it since... well you know (see avatar). Sometimes I struggle a bit when switching frmo 2nd and 3rd at speed, but it's just more clutch play.

im in the same poss look my 501 for sale for the same reason ,im looking at 450ish when u go out the first 20min u can controle the monster but after a couple off stalls or hitting the deck u soon become sh*ged out< i have mannaged to avoid tree hugging up to now
but its only a matter of time
thats why im looking for a change befor the big one happens

l plates what year is your 501 ?as for gearing its on 14 /48 have tried 15/48 , got a eln needle not sure about the main and pilot ill have a look

After Reading Taff Doc And A Couple Of PM's His Jetting Uses The EKQ Which Has Quite A Hit At The Top,So That Should Move The Power Up Higher Away From The Slow Stuff?

Oh yes I forgot to mention that mine has been rejetted by Lineaweaver and the result is a very very smooth bike.

Plus professionally tuned suspension, it helps keeping it on the track.

are the new bergs really that much more power than the old i ride my 98 FC501 in the woods all the time and i dont have the issues expressed here i will check the rear sproket but front is stock not many can keep up or loose me......im not tuting my horn just the bergs!!!!

Mr Lineweaver recommended disconnecting the TPS from the carb to smooth them out some months ago. I see that mentioned earlier in this post, and since it is free why not start there.

i disabled the tps on my 650 enduro , in dales words ' it gives it better manners ''.

it will not make the tight stuff any easier , the husa just wants to go go go .

thanks for the replies dudes might have dabble on the jet front with tps unplugged, now the enduro season is finished for me ill have a tamper :)

where is it too powerful? off the bottom in first and second or is it on 2nd gear switchback corners etc?

i would go to 14/51 or 13/48 gearing and use second gear all the time. i would also look at a tall seat because you can get 2-3" further forwards. you're not wedged BACK and down and into the bike.

it could be suspension is wrong.

the other thing is to ****** the ignition 2-3 degrees.

regards

Taffy

taff ive been running 14/48 got the tall seat just got a new 50 stealth sprocket and a 15 front to try. The main snag is in thes tight special tests when you need to get a clip on ive beeen giving it the berries just comes on cam at the wrong moment even tried lugging a higher gear with the rekcluse .found out that vortex do a ignition for the orange heaps so might fit the berg

[vuote="berger"]Ummmm.......380 kit????[/quote] yeh the 380 would work a treat only snag is it only fits the 450 , been for a couple of spins on one makes the bike feel 20kgs lighter and never feels like it wants to get away from you , dont get me wrong the 501 is a great ride :) just need to give it some respect in the the real tight stuff , maybe iam just getting to old :?
