470 locked up

Hi,

I am new to this site and think its the best idea. i ride a 2002 470fxe husaberg. i need some advice. recently while i was riding in 4th gear at half throttle, the back wheel locked up and now the kicker is jammed. i have taken it to a mechanic for assesment. would appreciate it if someone could tell me, what i should expect to hear back from them.

welcome to UHE denzo although don't just pop in with bad news will ya! where are you from? try and put it below an avator or in your signiture and that way we always know what you ride.

it'll all be part of the same problem. you have either the gearbox or more likely the primary gears locked by something that has dislodged itself or come lose. for me, it was a bolt out of the starter hole bung that fell into the kickstart gear. next stop was the primary drive which doesn't bare thinking about so i was almost pleased at that news.

anyway, you'll have to wait and see. feel sure it's not the engine part but the sidecover or gearbox side of things.

Hi there

thanks for the reply taffy,i was thinking that it might have seize on me.i just fitted a new cam chain tentioner and was haveing some ploblems fitting the bit on the end of it.Is there enenything else i should look at while the side cover is off?

remove the clutch assembly and see if it all spins and turns. be aware that the cam timing will change so you must download a copy of the timing from the 'engine rebuild' part of the doc.

Hi.

just got back from the mech. I have slit the crank in 2 and crack the case where the main bearing sits.Ihave some pics of it,so looks like i'm in a bit of **** then. eney idea's?

you need new cases. i wouldn't attempt to have them welded. it never lasts and you'll always be looking and worrying.

new cases or get a used engine and sell the other parts you don't need.

you've had it mate i'm afraid. but at least it's clear what you need to do. you need to find a used engine from either a 400/470 or even the 501.

good luck. start by e-mailing all the dealers and talking to people. half the aussies here don't know you either COZ YOU DIDN'T PUT WHERE YOU'RE FROM BELOW YOUR nik OR AS A FOOTNOTE.

Pretty sure I have a set of cases and maybe crank parts in my stuff .PM me. Heck even have a really good complete 02 fx470e..
