I noticed on a mechanical forum that Lineweaver hasn’t tried the 450 on a dyno as it is too over-square. I understand what is meant by over square (ie you mean bore and stroke measurements). But??

What are the negatives?

What were the results of your field testing of the tuning kit?

Extremely wide and thin combustion chamber limiting flame propagation.

With a single Exception. Proper idle, improved throttle response, more linear power delivery and improved fuel economy.

I have yet to dyno a 450 as one has not been made available. Each week people order my FCR 41 kit to test in their 450. I quite simply listen to their feedback, advise accordingly and basically rely on said end user opinion.

Hope this has answered your questions.

Dale,
On a 56.5 or a 57.2mm stroke, what would be the max bore dia. that would still allow for proper combustion?

brendan

you've got your numbers wrong there somehow fella? either that or you're onabout another engine/bike/model than husabergs?

you're not going to take my word for it but the wider the bore the more lead time for the combustion is needed and despite the push down on the piston there is an element of pushing the piston back the way it came. this slows the piston down.

the oversquare dimensions aren't condusivce to good torque. the torque numbers will be good due to the BMEP (brake mean effective pressure = the efficiency of an engine) being good and the BHP the engine produces. torque IMHO becomes a 'by product' and not an aim by the engine designer.

it means that you're always changing down a gear to get the bike moving again.

the bores of huseys are anywhere between 92 and 100mm brendan so come again?

regards

Taffy
