I hope someone can help me with an issue I'm trying to rectify on my friends 390,
The initial symptoms were simple, it looked like a slipping clutch so a new clutch was fitted (without basket) unfortunately the problem persists which are when the gear is engaged all is fine but when the throttle is opened the engine over revs and power is not transferred (this happens in any gear)
At low revs it seems ok but when the throttle is opened it just over revs.
As I have a 390 myself I have been able to compare all aspects of the clutch and they're identical.
I have gone as far as removing the clutch from my bike and fitting it to my friends (I'm retired so I have the time) but the problem persists.
I would appreciate any advice on what direction to take to get to the bottom of this issue as I believe it is not related to the clutch

Yes I have "drive" on all gears, like I mentioned on my original post, moved into gear fine but when throttle is increased quickly the power doesn't see to transfer via the clutch. It points 100% towards a slipping clutch but with the new clutch nothing changes.

Work already done:
New clutch plates + springs (no new basket replaced as it seemed fine)
Changed engine oil
Slave cylinder removed and checked
Pipe work removed cleaned and mineral oil replaced

Maybe try taking the clutch slave cylinder loose from the case?
Start the bike in neutral, roll and shift into gear...doesnut still slip?
Has the clutch push rod been replaced? Is it too long?
Are you sure you have ALL the clutch steels and fibers in there when replaced?
Too many or not enough will cause problems. When swapping clutches? I’ve missed the first steel in the stack (stuck via oil to the basket)
Long shot...what kind of oil is in it? If it’s standard engine oil, the friction modifiers could be the problem, too. Must be “motorcycle” oil with JASO MA rating
 
Are you sure tire isn’t slipping on rim I had that happen with nitro moose insert feels just like clutch slippage
 
What oil are you using?

My 610 (570) did this. The plates were fitted incorrectly. Make sure your friction and spacer plates are fitted in the correct order.

When I read your "post" first I thought it couldn't possibly be the problem but as it was such a quick check I popped the bike on a stand and amazingly "it is" the issue. The wheel is fitted with a moose (incorrect size presumably) and slips on the rim effortlessly. Thanks very much for taking the time to reply as you have saved me money and time.
