Hi Guys,

My 09 FE 570 (which I bought new ) has now done 345Hrs and 12865Kms, it is still
running perfectly and has never missed a beat. :D
Although I couldn’t be happier with the old girl I really like the look of the 2014 501 and I'm thinking about upgrading.
I know the new models are a bit lighter and I have heard that they are pretty awesome but how much better can they be than the 70 Deg. ? So...what to do. :? :?

If anyone owns or has ridden the new machine I would love to hear your thoughts and reports on the newest and last Berg to ever be made

How will the 2014 compare?

Will I be happy with it?

Or do I just give the 570 a birthday.

Steve

Not Sure about the new bikes but great to hear that many hours on the 570. How about valve adjustments any re shim?

what type of riding Dirt to road % ie 90% Dirt - 10% Road

original piston and rings ?

Fuel pump ?

Cam chain tensioner ?

sprocket splines on engine shaft ?

did anything need to be replaced besides, Tires , Chains , and sprockets

This is one of the main reasons I jumped on the Berg wagon reliability, single sump and flickability (new word?) Oh! and blue anodized rims :D

Hi cambo,
My riding would be 95% dirt 5% road (14/52 gearing)
The valves were still in spec at 306hrs/11700Kms
The original cam chain tensioner was replaced with Dirt Tricks unit at 16Hrs due to intermittent rattling of the stock unit.
Still original piston and rings (no smoke and no noticable oil use)
I fitted a ProFill sock to the tank and pump pick up at 60 hrs and have had no fuel pump problems, had I known about these I would have done it straight away ( recommend )
Sprocket splines still perfect, new seal fitted at 201Hrs (started to leak)
Replaced the water pump seal at 237Hrs (started to leak)
Oil changes every 10-12 hrs using Silkolene Comp 4 10w 40

I suppose now I need to touch some wood :)

Dirt Rider magazine did a long term test on a '09 FE570. They completely torn down a 300+ hour machine and found the engine to be in great shape. They said the FE570 had been a very reliable machine. Congrats on your long-term love affair with your Berg!

I have a 2014 husaberg 350, upgraded from a 2010 390 70 degree.

I was wondering why the hell I was selling my fantastic 390 but after my first ride I couldn't stop smiling!

Much lighter to lift, feels lighter to ride and a really strong engine - even lots of low down grunt like the 390!

It sits a bit lower, maybe 2 inches, so I feel more in control. Suspension is excellent as is everything else. My biggest issue is the hours I am running up on it........ But that's a good thing.

Can't comment on 501 vs 570 but have heard they are very powerful. If you ride a lot off ride, maybe even check out a 350. I don't think you will be disappointed.

Bottom line - great bike that made me a better rider.

I believe the additional suspension mods now on the husky version have further improved the bike as well. All reviews have been excellent.

Cheers

At 290 hours and counting on my 09 570, Im not far behind. Tearing it down to put in some new rings and have a look around was something I was going to do this winter but from all accounts I think I can hold off till next winter. Should have another 100 hours by then.

To date one valve was at the loose end of the spec at 230 hours, and the water pump seal started leaking at 257 hours. Still have the black made in china fuel pump too.

Hi Kipper

Thanks for the reply.

I have thought about a 350 or 450 and I agree they would be more user friendly in the tight stuff but I also do a fair amount of sand riding and I absolutely love the grunt of the 570 :D I think I would miss it in a smaller bore.
I knew the new models were lighter but I didn't know they were also a bit lower...... being a bit lower would definitely be a plus for me.
