Has anyone heard what is coming for 2013? Lite weight? 350 Berg? Direct injection? Spy photos?

2 st to adopt the ktm 2st frame.

4st who knows, bit of simplification and loss of weight would be the best.

If they are just a different color Ktm its a bit of a disappointment, Fair enough for the first 2 years while getting the 2t on its feet but if they can't think of anything new after 2 years and just copy ktm's new 2t its a bit of a let down. A white and red 13 model could be the answer to having something different again.

They're ditching the 70 degree motor? That's the best part of the bike! Why are they doing that? I might as well buy a KTM otherwise.

I liked the 70 motor pity they are gonna ditch it. Dunno if my FE450 will ever be up for sale now cause it will look so cool in a few years :D

would be very surprised if they did ditch the motor.

that photo is just a 350 ktm tarted up, and when i saw it on another website it said as much, so think its a bit off posting it up here and trying to make out thats the 2013 berg

also see its been posted up on adventure rider and numerous other sitesl with the comment that its the 2013 husaberg.

Why do people do this?

I'm saying from the photo it looks it, loads of talk over the net. But we all won't know for another few months I guess.

FYI that pic is not a 350 it is a 250 EG-F now you likely never heard of that model and dont think that will
make it to production
EG stands for Emil Gustavsson and F for four stroke name may sound familiar it is husa father Thomas son
who is part of Husaberg team sweden bike is ktm 250 XC-F
Emil rode six days on that model and he had said in interview that it is a USA model
now I can see him being embarrassed him riding ktm and being part of Husaberg team
at the end of this video you see the bike http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJY-Ect5eh4

later VIKING

Thats such crap they wouldnt spend years and all that money on r and d only to use the 70 deg
Motor for 4 years. PPL should keep their trap shut untill something official is said

cheers viking some clarification such as you provided is what was needed.

for those who watch the video viking linked the interview with emil and him riding the bike start at 13.33

if they did do the same with the 250f or even the 150 2st as they did with the 250/300 2st bikes then i think they would sell quite a few.

Is it too much to ask to get a direct inject 2 stroke? Help a brother out! Oh, and I need it for the September Moab ride  .

LOL! Good one, sir. (g)

Boy, DI-2T was all we talked about for while, eh? The chatter on that puppy has really died off.
Sounds like it's possible - but just too spendy/chancy to build at this time. Not to mention that it might significantly impact or crater their 4T bikes.

What's the timing on the Moab ride?
The wife and I were thinking about doing another Moab ride in the 1st or 2nd week in October.

Cheers!

No specific dates yet but the September/October timeframe is what everyone is thinking.

1st or 2nd week in Moab is totally primo. It's not so hot and all the crowds are gone.

re the injection 2st ktm put out a statment a few years ago saying that whilst the 2st bikes were passing emission tests with carbs then they'd be sticking with them.

case of don't fix what aint broken combined with the state of the economy i think, as previoulsy mentioned.

That is exactly what I heard from the horses mouth. The only consideration for producing a DI 2 stroke would be to pass Euro emissions standards. Until that has to happen, it's not going to happen. They feel the benefits do not justify the additional expense ,weight and complexity. Expense being a key issue at this time.

Are motorcycles exempt from Euro 6 Emissions Standards, to be enacted 9/14 and take force 1/15?

Hi guys,
I can provide a little more insight into this topic - I've just pulled the pin and bought myself a 2012 FE570 and the dealer I bought from was told by KTM in a conference 2 weeks ago that the 70degree engine is gone in 2013. They are going to be basically blue KTM's with a few small differences, in order to cut manufacturing costs and remain competitive.

I am glad I got one while they are still available. It is hands down the best bike I've ever ridden and I love it!

be sad if it was true but forgive me for remaining a sceptic as we've had the whole ' a mate of mine / my dealer was told by the factory.....' previously on several topics, the most recent being the 2st which if we believed everthing was going to be a layed back direct injection engine amongst other things.

Again its sad if it does come about but from past experience i wont believe anything until we see the bikes in the dealers.

if it does come about maybe the success that the 2st seems to have had, loads about at the weekend, has made them think they can do the same with the 4st.
