2010 FE 390 Radiator Fan Power Connector

From memory it is a push together type connector that has a triangular shape on one side.
 
If it's the same kit as for the FE 570, I believe this is it (found this on another forum):
It is a spal 4 inch unit.
124 cfm at 1.9 amps.

It appears to be about 4.25" (109mm) total diameter of the outside case.

I'm also looking for the connectors, so will be interested if anyone finds them. I haven't checked the Husaberg dealer yet, as they're about an hour away.

I've also looked at the Dirt Tricks fan kit, but have decided to make my own. I've got a number of 3.5" fans from computers. They may be lower volume, but with one on each radiator, I should be ahead of the game. I've heard of others using computer fans with some success. Even if I have to replace them every so often, it will be worth it (I have a very good source for at least a couple dozen;-). I'm fabricating brackets out of 1/8" x 3/4" aluminum. Just need to find a power plug to mate to the Husaberg plug, and decide where to mount a switch.

I've just installed the fan.

The power connector is white and is a little rectangular plug with a sort of triangle point at one of the shorter triangle ends. The actual connectors within the plug are simple round things. It is just sitting there against the frame with a whole lot of other stuff, including some other blank plugs of differing sorts that goodness only knows what they are there for. :?:

Note: once the fan is on, there's not much room there. You have to undo both radiator-frame bolts to enable the radiator to move forward to take the tank off. (the tank hits the fan as you try to lift the tank)

And there's quite some forcing and wriggling. Usually causing you to bend some of the radiator fins on the OTHER side if you're not careful......... :angry:

I have found that the fan only rarely comes on. Once when I let it idle for AGES, once on the side of a nasty, nasty hill with lots of revving and sweating. This might be because I have a quality coolant, or because the radiators are a pretty good bit of kit and transfer heat quite well.

The main reason why the fan runs so infrequently is likely due to the fact that the fan turn on temp for the stock thermo-sensor is 100C (212F).
 
you would like to avoid cooking coolant, because it will spill.

But fluid under pressure has a higher cooking point (100C). May as well be something like 106C.

So for racing it is not bad. For long ride endurance, you'd better keep your oil cool, so that it will not detariote slower. So if you are planning multi-day rides, you'd better install something which switches on at 102C and off at 95C again.
 
The stock thermo switch is fine! I give mine some hard labour up slow steep rocky inclines. The fan comes on but it doesn't boil.

If you swap the thermo switch for a lower temp on/off, you're more likely to flatten the battery on slow naggery stuff. DAMHIK!

RadioShack carries the connector. Picture of female plug for fan connection that came stock on the bike. I just bought a male/female pair of these connectors for $2.19 US. Watch out though, there are two sizes, very similar. The correct size for this has the pointed side, the larger has a slightly squared off point.

I have all the brackets made for my dual fan setup. This will give me one fan on each radiator, with a total draw of about 1amp. I'll have a lighted switch mounted near the right fan (similar to Dirt Tricks fan kit), but I found that the power plug for the stock fan kit goes off when the key is turned off, so little chance of leaving it on and draining battery while sitting. I'm planning to run the fans most of the time (except maybe when riding fast roads/trails). Will post picts of finished install, and individual bracket picts. I might have $30 into it now.
