Hi Guys,

Just out of curiosity, I thought I would start a thread on the changes
from 2009'S - 2010's

I notice the specs on the new 570's state the compression ratio is now

up from 11.8-1 to 12.2-1

Steve

One is a year newer than the otherone. But I forget witch one it is.

From a story in the Sept issue of Australasian Dirt Bike:-

22mm offset triple clamps - makes the bike a bit more stable over rutted ground.
new suspension settings
different brake pads]
low fuel warning light
fuel control sensor
DID X-ring chain
front brake line guide
oil control rings (450 & 390)
nitrided piston rings
camchain tensioner

It has also come to my attention that the FX 450 has an open loop injection system, aka no O2 sensor. It also has a close ration transmission.

I wonder how they bumped the compression ratio up-different piston, or head change. This should make Gazza happy, perhaps a bit more "chuff" for the top end speed.

Since we are talking new bikes. Does anyone know the output of the 09 or 10s stator.
I can compare it to a trail tech. Those output 100 watts at idle.

None of the 2010s have O2 sensors, the pipe does not even have the mount for it.

The manual says 210W. It gives no RPM. In my experience most bikes need more than idle to charge the battery with a lighting load, even more so now with EFI/ECU. Fortunately it doesn't take much. I could go out and measure the voltage at idle to verify, but I don't have a tach on my bike so I could not tell you what RPM it needs to get over onto the plus side of charging. I think it is a safe assumption that it is above idle.

That's very interesting that none of the bikes have 02 sensors, indeed.

The voltage output on my 09 at idle is 14.7VDC. When you first start the bike up after it's been sitting, even with a battery tender left on it, the reg/rect on the steering head gets hot pretty quickly, then cools later. Seems to me that they have that set up to charge the battery very aggressively, which is smart considering there is no kick start.

Thanks on the stator info. I ran my fan most of the day today with no issues.

That 22mm offset is simply the best. My KTM had a 17 mm offset. I could keep it on the trails. My new berg handles just like my old berg. I love that.

Your new Berg handles like your old Berg? Surely not..
