The Forest Rally is the annual WA round of the ARC (Australian Rally Championship - WRC cars stuff). It is held in the state forest around the town of Nannup south of Perth each year with some special stages in and around Busselton as well. Biggest event on the WA car rally calender.
This year for the first time ever in Australia offroad motorcycles & quads took part in the race as part of a RallyMOTO event. For those that have been following the RallyMoto events in the USA it is the same concept.
The event held 16-18 April 2010 was a huge success !!!!
Better yet Husabergs took out 2nd and 3rd outright
The first RallyMoto event in Australia went down to the wire on the last stage, Mick Heuchan FE570 took out 2nd overall just 4secs behind the winner Sean Williamson WR450 with Andrew Coaker FE570 in 3rd.
Well done guys, congrats to Sean who rode a great race, Mick said he gave it everything he had and cooked up 3 rear tyres over the 2 days.
Well done Mick & Coak
Heath Young took out the Quad class
All the riders loved it and had a ball, some great lessons learnt for the future. A unique new race format for Australia that has been a great success with both Moto and ARC competitors raving about it. Lots of support and interest from all the Auto crews and officials etc so the RallyMoto event has been a real success.
So look for more RallyMoto in the future !!
