Anybody played around with swapping FE/FX450 parts into a FE390? FX/FE cam?

Just curious.
 
I have 390FE with a 450 Head I’m told by the previous owner I also have a stock 390FE. As far as I can tell no difference. Both good motors

the parts fiche shows the head as the same part number for all of the 70 degree bikes, which surprised me.

Check out the camshaft. The 390 and 450's have a different part number. I have not seen them side by side, though.

If I recall, the FX450 and FE450 also use the same camshaft part number. Any differences in performance there might be just EFI tuning.
 
There is a minor difference between the cams. 570 have 10 degrees more exhaust duration (according to Jens at the factory), minor difference in lift but hardly worth mentioning.
