Hi,

This FE570 looks jaw dropping. I'm in love.

Want to know if a few modifications can be done to it before considering taking the pledge.

1) Would it be possible to get a compact smaller exhaust setup like that of the new 2009 CRF450R?

2) Can The 12v SLA battery be accessed easy? If so, what do you think of replacing it with a lighter Li-Ion 11.1v Battery? on the subject, how often do you FE owners charge the batt?

3) Is it easy to remove the front & rear light to give it a more mx look? Maybe replace with after market mx parts at front?

If the stock halogen lamp on the FE is 35w, that would be only around ~800 lumens of light.
I have my own light setup that hooks on the front of the bike when riding at night, 2kg HID 4000+ lumens, 1.5hr runtime.

Cheers.

1) I dont know?
2) You will want to keep the 12 volt battery for the EFI and lights. The subframe is molded to fit that battery. I keep the battery on an Optimate charger whenever the bike is not in use.
3) The lights come off easy. The North American bikes dont even come with them.

cool thanks.

I visited the North American site & the 09 FE bergs all have the lights, unless thats just the website.

Maybe it would be better to order a North America bike in from my AUS dealer? But that would probably cost a fortune.

Or maybe I could order the North American parts that replace the front light?

'JoeT' over at KTMTalk is selling a line of Li batteries that are fully compatible with the electrical system of bikes. The 5 aH Li battery costs $130 and weighs 1.6 lb, almost 4 lbs lighter than the stock battery! The nominal voltage of the battery is about 13.5 V. I installed one in my '08 KTM (HTR 350) 250 XCF-W and thus far it is performing at least as well as or better than the stock battery.
