Hi All,
Am looking at a 2nd hand 09 450 FE and was wondering what to look out for with this bike/model? Are there any comon faults with the bike? What do you all think of this bike? Much appreciate any feedback.
Thanks, Jason :?:

Apart from a broken wire in my loom at 75 hours this bike has been awesome, I'm now on over 150 and the valves haven't move by far the best bike Ive owned

I think that the '09 bikes had issues with the cam-chain tensioner that was fixed on the '10 bikes.

I think the biggest issue has been faulty fuel pumps.

And I think the '09 models had a restrictive exhaust can.

You may also want to have the ECU reflashed with the competition map - if it hasn't already been done.

I have an 09 model with 130 hours on the clock which i have had from new, only problem i have ever had is from the bolts that go through the rear sub frame into the tank, they seize, This is easily over come by greasing the bolts tread before you refit them, Lots of people will tell you to buy expensive oil , I have used a cheap and cheerful Shell Advance 10w-40 from day one, I change the oil about every 20 hours never had a problem yet, This bike has been chucked down the side of ravines upside down in thick woods, and drown a few times in rivers without doubt the best bike i have ever had.. Would i change her NO :bounce3:

I think the fuel pump issues are more related to 2010-2011.

And it does seem to be mainly a US issue rather than worldwide. So need to consider this if your in the US
