Hi all

I'm considering buying a 2008 FE650. I don't know anything about the pre-70-degree Husabergs, but I know there are a lot of members on this site who do :). I'm hoping to learn from the sages...

  • Are there any problem areas that I should check on this bike?
  • What types of model-specific modifications and maintenance (beyond obvious ones that apply to any bike) would be helpful? How much do they cost?

Thanks in advance

Buy the seller a litre of oil and do an oil change together. This would have allowed me to find that my engine is messed (and saved me buying a bike that needs so much work).

See my thread about metallic flakes in oil.

Also, check for oil leaks at seals (shifter, kickstarter, oil/coolant weep hole at water pump, etc.)

What year & model is your Husaberg?

EDIT: Never mind, just saw it in your profile.

I just laid thebike on its left side when I looked at it, pulled the plug and oil screen and checked for metal. Check for oil in rad, leaky gaskets, pull air filter and check inside frame for grit/dirt. Plus check all the usual stuff, bearings, spokes, chain sprocket, footpegs and cover wear ... Make sure it matches claimed mileage.
08 is a good year.

they are generally a beautiful bike that is scarey fast! no real problems - can be difficult to start sometimes if not set up right.

as the others say, if the guy is silly enough not to have cleaned his magnet then sure look at the magnet for metal filings....

regards

Taffy
