Hello all. I just got a 2008 FE 550 with 30hrs on it. I looked through all the fixes and upgrades on this site and it seems all of the fixes apply to early to mid 2000 machines. I can't find much if anything to fix or upgrade on my '08. I know there has to be something to look out for or upgrade so I'm asking all of you. What are the must do fixes for my bike? Thanks.

There arnet any! You should be good for another 100hrs before you need to fix anything.

Ditto, beautiful machine.

Some possibilities, dial the suspension, valving and springs to suit you and the terrain you mostly ride. Ergonomics? Protection, aka bash plate & barkbusters? Improve the jetting?

Nothing NEEDS to be done.

A list of things I did to my 05 FS650e supermoto shortly after buying it in April. It had 130 hours 3000 miles on it.

I bought and had Dale Lineaweaver install his jet kit.
I got softer seat foam, a Gutz tall soft
I swapped the huge tailight for one for a 2006.
I installed Cyra CRM handguards, and ProGrip Rally grips.
Changed the coolant to a 30/70 mix of coolant/distilled water with some water wetter.
Changed out the old brake fluid.
Bought two new tires.
Replaced a leaky waterpump seal at 180 hours.

A month ago, at 230 hours, a valve spring broke. I bought and installed new valve springs, valve seals, a head gasket, and a new timing chain.

At 8,500 miles 260 hours now. Never raced it, but thinking about it. I've got to get some leathers first.

Edit: I bought a new chain and sprockets a while ago and another rear tire

Oil changes every 10 hours, with filter every other time.
Valve adjustment every 30-40 hours. Would check every 20 hours on a low hour bike though.

Thanks for the info guys. I've already tackled the suspension and it came well protected from the previous owner. I just wanted to make sure there was no mechanical things I should fix before they fix me! Beautiful bike is right! My favourite so far.

I agree - nothing needs doing.

you can put a HC piston in, a jetting kit (I do one as well) and a HL cam.

reliability wise nothing: just a DVS kit.

Trim some plastic around the tank and cut the end cap out.

I turned up the idle up because it was going " tink " and I started going through all the connects with WD-40 and a que-tip.

Hi all, worthwhile preventitive fixes(in my opinion),
Dual valve spring kit
jet kit and knock back the accelerator pump
bin rubbish spark plug cap and fit decent one(caused intermitent misfire, took a while to find that one)
stator modifacation
dont overfill oil!
lube headset bearings frequently
hope this helps
