I recently picked up a 2006 Fe450 with 163 hours/3600 miles. I was wondering how many of you out there still have your 2006 -2008 bikes and what kind of hours/miles are on them.

I am thinking I should have at least another 150 hours before I have to worry about rebuilds but wanted to get your opinions.

should I be worried about the bike with 163 hours. I don't really have any history on the bike and it looks ok. It wasn't the cleanest I've seen.

thanks

I personally would think a rebuild or at least a peak into the engine would be in order. If you divide the number of miles by the hours on the engine. It's looking like an average speed of 22 mph. Which leads me to think that's mostly trail riding.

Just a thought.

It is not a bike bought from your good neighbor, so you dont know the bike and what kind of person the pre owner is. Therefore I would first check oil and coolant level, listen, ride, listen, then bleed the oil, check filter screen, magnet, put the left cower down - check if the camchain didnt shave any aluminium somewhere, right cover down - check the play on the ignition side, put the head down, check the sleeve for visible wear, check the valves, check/change the timing chain, check rockers, put new headgasket, set valves, put new water seal, new oil and coolant. if it doesnt start well on kick and adjusting mixture doesnt help, clean carb including AC pump and dont forget to write down what jets and needle and needle position you have. and then it is your bike (the engine part). you surely know that chassis condition and adjustment is equally important, proper secondary chain tension as well. the more things you check, the better sleep.

I might as well do through this stuff now instead of later.
thanks for the info

Yes I still ride a 2007 FE 650 and have no plans to upgrade. Unless they re release them.
