Hi, i just got my self a 2004 HUSABERG FS650, only had the thing for 20 minutes and the bike just stopped when i was traveling along at 70mph, i rolled to a stop and couldn't get the thing to fire, after trying everything i could think still no pops.. so i rolled it down a big hill trying to bump but no joy. After checking all the wires etc i tried again and got a pop but still wouldn't run i removed the carb bowl nut and drained a bit of full out after 5 min off kicking the bike started at idle then after 1min it stopped and started finally got it to rev and white/blue smoke was puffing out so i left it and picked up the next day in a van.. ok the battery was flat/knacked from day one as the guy i got i from said it had always been like this. he just kicked it, when i got the bike home after kicking it loads again it wouldn't run so i attached a different battery with power in it and got it running and after say 15 seconds the bike completely stopped smoken, it will idle and rev but the after a min or so just pops and stops.. any ideas would help, if it was really flooded would it cause smoke? Thanks Guys!

so, the only thing you've done is drain some fuel from the carb? for god sakes, at least pull the spark plug.
anytime you get a bike that is new to you, you should go thru it checking that all is properly maintained and adjusted.

take your rocker box cover off and check for a broken valve spring
my .02

if it were me I'd strip and rebuild the engine

(yes I like to work naked)

Thanks guys, managed to get it running! I was going to check plug next but all shops are closed over here on a Saturday afternoon, anyway replaced the plug and she started second kick, also got a new battery. Do they struggle to start on the E start, it will start but only if the motor has been running, but if sat for 15min you need to kick start it again?? just sounds like it don't turn over very fast. Thanks again

it had a motor rebuild about 700 miles ago, the bike has done 3.5k in total. was going to rebuild after TT week. cheers!

the '04 models had a run of bad starter torque limiters that would release too early and made it difficult to start it cold (anything but hot). it will make a high pitched whirring noise and the engine won't turn over. there are fixes mentioned in the owners doc.
...and if you're fouling plugs, you need to work on the jetting.
