Just a couple of notes on the 2004 FE650...

A) The under seat auxillary tank will not fit without extensive modifications. For whatever reason, the factory has relocated the CDI control unit under the seat where the tank would reside. I'm currently relocating the control unit to a new location in front of the steering stem.

B) The Z-Start auto clutch by Reklus for the 2004 Ktooms does fit the 2004 Husabergs! For more info go to www.rekluse.com

Hi Ken,
the placement of the CDI unit was chosen because they wanted it to have out of the electomagetic influence of the coil and plug wire. So becarful with your relocation.

Hey Juergen -

I really don't think it was EI (I'm an RF engineer) that drove the choice of location. There's really very few options on the 'berg to place it (I've considered them all). In front of the stem is the best I could come up with...

Powercell, Im just wondering how long you have had your 2004. I have yet to see one up here in Oregon. Also what are your impressions on the bike so far? I am curious about the new e start. wooleyberger

Hey Wooley -

I picked it up Friday and started modifying the frame Friday night. The swingarm is being recalled so I cannot ride it until a replacement gets here next week.

The new starter seems to crank it just fine. The most I've ridden it is into the back of my pickup - but it felt excellent with the new FCR41...

The recall is for the swingarms on some of the FE and FC models. The dealer must check the batch code on the swingarm and match it to a list of known bad batchs. If it is on the list the swingarm must be replaced prior to sale. I guess they had a problem with cracking.
