I've replaced the rings on my 2004 FE450, and after starting, the bike seems to be vibrating and feeling more lumpy than before.
I split the engine from the right hand side, and didn't touch the left (clutch side) at all, leaving the covers in place. I found I could lift the crank slightly, just enough to maneuver the cylinder liner out, and remove the piston.
On rebuilding, I checked, and triple checked the timing before fitting the timing chain, then cranked the engine a few times with the kick starter to check that the timing was still lined up before I went any further.
I presumed (lol), that as I hadn't touched the left side, that the balance shaft timing marks, shouldn't need checking. But I am thinking that, where I lifted the crank slightly, I may have moved it a tooth or two.
So before I go stripping anything down again, I'd really appreciate any thoughts on this. I know I can check myself by locking the engine and taking the left cover off, which I think I'll end up doing anyway.
