Can somebody tell me how I can see if my bike is a 2004 of 2005, Are there differcenses on the outside of the engine?
I want to know this so that I can see if I have a 2004 or 2005 engine.

It is for a 650 enduro bike.

I don't think that there are any external differences only internal. Additional piston ring, additional oil jet etc.

Do you have any other parts? Plastic? Computer (odometer) ?

On the 05, the right side (magneto side) exhaust header sweeps down more just as it exits the head to allow the front tire to miss it when the forks are fully compressed. There is a possibility some of the late 04's has the new header installed, mine did not but the importer swapped it out for me through Dan Blum of Motoxotica.

Side by side there is a noticable difference.

I believe the first 1 or 2 digits of the engine number indicate the year. This is stamped on the left side behind the exhaust header.

As Joe stated there is a difference in how the headers come out of the motor. The 05 left side header comes out and makes a pretty sharp U turn and then goes to the collector. Another difference on the exhuast is the muffler, the 05 utilizes a straight type of connector to the collector, where the 04 has the older KTM design that kind of looks like a ball and socket type connection.

The 05 also has a kickstarter that wraps around the collector. The 05 also has a thermostat in the cooling system that is clearly visible on the left side, that has a small bypass hose in line as well. The 05 also has the smaller eliptical type of odometer. Some small graphic changes as well but essentially the same dimensions on the tank seat.
