Hi everyone I'm new to this site and have a few questions to ask you.
I decided to join UHE after looking at the Forums while doing some research.
I'm interested in a 2002 FE501E that I saw on Motoxotica's website.
I've E-mailed Dan and gotten some information about this 2002 Husaberg.
From what I've read on the Forums it may have an aluminum camshaft gear that should be exchanged for a steel one.
The Stators are prone to failure which I believe a member named Sparks can rewind with good results.
I would like to know what your opinions are of this model and year Husaberg, and what other things that may need to be looked into.
Thanks in advance,
Bnugget

Hello Pnugget:

I own a FE501e '02 too. The bike performance is awsome :D . This model and all model since 2003 need a careful maintenace 8) . I mean a regular week maintenece including next tips:
Oil change every weekend or every big enduro ride
Change the rockerarm rollerbearing every year
You can find have an excellent info in "Owner's Doc"
Other things:
The e-starter is a re-starter. So, first start in morning must be with kickstarter. Is possible you need to chande the torque limiter and other wheels. I use a 12v/7ah battery. It works ok.
Tha stator has a short life and suddenly it dies with a "heart attack" . So is inportant to clean it, no dust and dry ( O-ring gasket and/or silicone ). Sparks is a good option. He has a website.

Good luck and welcome UHE !!!!

PD. I cahnged original kickstarter for a 2005 starter because is shorter......

Bnugget,

I've seen the bike your talking about in person. Its a great price for a great bike and its virtually brand new.

I also have the same year and model. I have not had any problems with since buying it new from Dan back in '03. I think its an incredible motorcycle. It will flat haul the mail if you have some place to open it up in 6th gear.

Like morrisberg said, change the oil. I change mine after every ride. Cheap insurance.

If you do get it, change the rear sprocket to a 50 tooth. You'll be a lot happier with it.

Welcome to UHE,
Mike
