My bike has develop an engine miss from 1/3 to full throttle. It seems like its overfuelled and is running rich under this operating condition. Similar to running the engine when its warm with the choke on. I've checked that the choke isn't partially stuck on.

I've pulled the carburetor apart, cleaned it and checked all the parts for wear. They all seem to be OK. All the parts in the carby have the same part no's as the 2001 manual.

The engine starts and idles fine.

Can someone help me diagnose this problem.

Check your air filter is clean. Also check the vent hoses on the carby.
It might also be worth cleaning the carb again as the smallest bit of crap can restrict flow.
Make sure that passage is clear by blowing air through.

Hi Gnome,

Has this problem suddenly occured if so does engine temperature make any difference, if the problem gets worse as the engine warms up then could be your stator on it's last legs .
Test spark permance, remove plug and plug cap the spark should jump 10mm from the lead to the engine casting on a normal kick, try this hot and cold the performance should be the same if the stator is at fault you might find a lower spark performance when hot.

Regards

Sparks.

All

I've swapped the stator from another bike into mine and the miss is gone. It now runs like new.

Sparks. I'm looking forward to seeing my rewound stator.

Hamberger.
